Postnatal Doula

Mothers supported by doulas are significantly more satisfied with their birth experience, but the support of postnatal doulas is less well known and just as valuable.

We have years of training, appropriate insurance and DBS clearance, and we work to highly professional standards.

Postnatal Doula

Before the birth we visit you to get an idea of what you want for your post-birth recovery. We will work with you on your personal recovery plan.

After your baby is born and after you have come home from hospital, if that’s where the baby was born, we visit for a pre-agreed number of hours per week, three or more hours per visit. The number of hours and days we work is very flexible: we only ask that you tell us a week in advance when you think we’ll be needed.

Typical tasks are: cooking lunch; doing laundry; tidying up; holding baby when mother is resting; changing sheets; shopping and errands, listening to the parent’s concerns - anything which will help the new parent feel cared for, comfortable and free to bond with baby; supporting feeding choices.

Sarah is an ABM Breastfeeding Mother Supporter and Lou is a Baby Massage Instructor and we both bring these skills and many others to our postnatal doula work.

£30.00 per hour

To ensure that we are available at the time you will need us, we request a deposit of £300 (= ten hours) which is deductable from our first invoice.
